PLUS: ECE Team Building & Regional Funding Updates

Today’s Issue: ECE Educators > Astronauts, Reflection Sciences, Build Your Team; How to Use YouTube to Grow Enrollment, ECE in the News = 1 cup of coffee.
Talk About an Overachiever: A recent article about American astronaut, Jonny Kim, has been making some waves about his achievements. By the age of 41, he has done, to say the least, a LOT. A former navy seal, flight surgeon, pilot and astronaut is just the beginning of his list of achievements. Dang. But then we got to thinking…Who else is as tough and focused as this overachiever? Early childhood educators, that’s who! We know the work and stress that goes into taking care of those little tykes. In our eyes, you have your own unsung list of achievements. Here’s to you and all the blood, sweat and tears you put in every day!

Every Childcare Business Owner Needs a “Phone a Friend”
by Nikkie Handy
Running a childcare business isn't like running a donut shop, a cell phone repair service, or a nail salon. Your customers don't just consume a product — they directly contribute to the culture of your business. You can feel the visibility. It’s almost palpable.
That might sound ominous, but here’s the flip side: there are few industries as deeply rewarding. If you don't love this work with your whole heart, it will scare you off. But if you do? There’s no better place to be.

👀 Turn Views into Enrollments: Why Your Preschool Needs a YouTube Channel ****
YouTube just turned 20 years old! Want to see the first YouTube video ever posted? Here is the link. It’s not that exciting, but it kicked off an internet revolution. We all know what it can do and the awareness it can bring. That’s why this week’s issue is dedicated to discussing how to use YouTube to showcase all of the best things about your center.
If you’re not using YouTube to promote your childcare center, you might be missing out on one of the easiest and most effective ways to connect with families in your community. And no — you don’t need fancy equipment, a film degree, or viral dance moves (unless you want to, of course). 🕺🏻
Why YouTube? 📺
YouTube is the second most visited website in the world, and today’s parents head there for everything from preschool tours to advice on toddler tantrums. Having your center on YouTube makes it easier for families to discover you, learn about your program, and feel confident about enrolling their little ones.
What to Post:
You don’t need to overthink it. Start with:
A virtual tour of your classrooms, playground, and common areas.
Meet the teacher videos so parents can get to know your staff.
Short activity clips showing kids safely enjoying art, music, or outdoor time.
Parent testimonials about their experience at your center.
Keep videos authentic and positive — no need for scripts or perfection. Parents want to see the real atmosphere where their children will spend their days. 👶🏽
Tips for Getting Started:
Use your smartphone and natural light. 📱
Keep videos between 1-3 minutes.
Add your center’s name and city to the video title and description for search visibility.
Share your videos on your website, social media, and in your email newsletters.
Pro Tip: Feature a "Day in the Life" video where parents can follow a typical day from drop-off to pick-up. It’s one of the most searched topics for prospective childcare families! ⛹🏻♀️
The Bottom Line:
You don’t need to be a YouTuber to benefit from YouTube. A few simple, genuine videos can build trust, show off your amazing teachers and environment, and make families feel good about choosing you.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to hit record — this is it!
ECE In the News!
With funding being threatened and rising childcare costs, the impact in the state of Texas is being felt. That is why the Texas is putting forth a bill to increase funding for access to childcare to help ward off the crisis. It’s great to see states stepping up to ensure childcare remains an affordable right for hard working families! ⭐️
NYC’s mayor, Eric Adams, listened to his constituents and rolled back huge cuts to childcare in the Big Apple. 🍎 $167M was supposed to be cut from the city’s budget. But after outcries about the impact to families, those cuts have been removed.
The Internet is a Playground:
🗓️ On this Day in History: In 2011, the famous royal couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton got married. Happy Anniversary to the spotlight couple! 🇬🇧
🐬 That’s Cool!: Google is partnering with the Wild Dolphin Project to use AI to learn how dolphins talk, and, drumroll please, possibly learn how to talk back to the cute sea dwelling creatures.
