Fireworks?! Nah, Launch Cars off Cliffs Instead: 4th of July is known for traditions and shenanigans. We all hear stories of Americans who may have gone a bit overboard with fireworks and taking things to new levels. But Alaska said “Hold my beer and watch this.” This last 4th of July, Glacier View, Alaska saw a cliff and decided to launch 36 cars off of it for its holiday celebration (🧨🧨Check out the video 👉👉👉 HERE). Have an extra Isuzu Trooper? Well, they sent that guy flying as well. We hope everybody was able to celebrate America’s birthday with this much fun!

Have you developed any fun unique 4th of July traditions for your ECE program? |
🚨 Feeling Stuck in the Childcare Hustle? We Scored a DEAL for YOU!
If you’ve been reading Ecential this year, you know we’ve been waving the flag 📣 about how local childcare owners need to level up to stay competitive. With big chains and private equity-backed groups gobbling up market share like snack time goldfish crackers, it’s never been more important to shore up your operations.
But here’s the good news: as an operator, you’ve got something those corporate types don’t — roots in your community, trusted relationships with families, and the power to build a sustainable, values-driven business. You just might need the right tools (and a little tactical support) to get there.
✨ Enter Marnie Forestieri.
Marnie’s not another self-proclaimed “business coach.” She’s an actual operator with four thriving schools, a TEDx talk under her belt, and a gift for helping owners turn chaos into confidence. Her Childcare Turnaround Accelerator is designed for leaders ready to stop putting out fires and start building the center they actually want to run.
If you’re dealing with:
📉 Soft enrollment and flat revenue
🚪 Constant staff turnover
📞 Parent complaints you’re too exhausted to handle
💸 Financial headaches with no clear plan
🔥 Daily crises leaving zero time for strategy
…it’s worth a look.

🎉 Hey — Let’s Talk Onboarding (Cuz There’s a Right Way to Do It)
Our guest writer last week, Nikkie Handy, had awesome insights into employee onboarding and why it’s important. It can make or break your employee tenure and adoption into your culture. But then what? Based on our poll, the majority said they had NO onboarding plan. See the results below 👇👇👇.
So we did a bit of extra homework for you. From Harvard and MIT experts to other experts in the field, we helped craft a plan on how to build an employee onboarding plan for your center. Take the parts you like and make it your own!

ECE In The News
📺 Childcare Reality TV: From eating grubs for protein to racing across the world for $1M, it’s time for the ECE space to get its spotlight in reality TV. Hey, from the stories we’ve seen and witnessed, there is NO ordinary day in managing centers. That’s why four power owners in Atlanta are now going to start their own reality series. I wonder if the parents’ behavior will change a bit knowing the world is watching….🌎
🎓 Loosened Staffing Requirements: North Carolina just introduced legislation to lessen the staffing requirements for staffing ECE teachers. With rising costs and increasing barriers to find teachers to care for the little ones, the state legislators introduced new policies to help remove these barriers to make sure there are enough teachers to support state ECE demand. ⚖️
Do you think this is a good way to increase staffing? |
The Internet is a Playground:
🗓️ On this Day in History: On July 8, 2000, Venus Williams wins at Wimbledon for the first time. Her victory over defending champion, Lindsay Davenport, made Williams the first Black female Wimbledon champion since Althea Gibson won back-to-back titles in 1957 and 1958. 🎾
🇺🇸 Presidents with Ham?: Yep. Someone took the time to have each president pose with a ham. 🍖
